New Year's Eve is coming up, and what better way to celebrate it than to party in the IRC channel and start the New Year with a bang?

Therefore, I hereby invite everyone in the Neo Ark Cradle IRC channel to spend the New Year's Eve together! Our first one together, even.

Server: DarkMyst
Channel: #neoarkcradle

If you are new to IRC or don't know how to connect, check out Kitten's excellent guide: <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://neoarkcradle.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=593">viewtopic.php?f=1&t=593</a><!-- l -->

What can you expect:

The event lasts from roughly of the evening of the 31st until everyone passes out from exhaustion the next day. There's no fixed date; just enjoy yourselves.

Program yet to be decided apart from general chatting; check back for updates. If you have ideas or services to provide (e.g., streaming), please let us know in this thread!

Who's invited?

Like I said above, we welcome everyone! While we highly encourage our current members to join in, we don't mind guests or non-members to tag along, as long as you aren't around to cause trouble.

What are the rules?

The gist of the forum rules, basically. While we are more laid back and lenient about the rules in the IRC chat, the basics still apply. No attacking other people, no trolling, no causing trouble. Troublemakers will be booted out.

The channel will be moderated by myself, NeoArkadia and Geno. If you have any questions during the duration of the event, just send us a query on IRC. (Here's how to send a query.)

Anything else?

We can to keep the party fairly simple yet fun. Hope to see you guys around!
What an interesting idea this is. Will try my best to find time to join. x)
I'll be sure to troll, make trouble, and attack. Parties need to be kinkier, dammit. >.>;;
I'm in. Not like I'll do anything special that day. I honestly think I won't. Besides, you need some SPANISH in there xD
^lol.

Been a while since I've ben on an IRC; not sure how my comp would handle it, though, so that might be a problem.
It shouldn't be too performance costly, A-Hole. mIRC ran pretty fabulously with an 486 for me back in like... 2000? Dunno how old your computer is, but it shouldn't be an issue. You can always give it a test run to see how it works, if you are unsure.
It also helps you can use mibbit. Doesn't need to be on your PC itself, and you can access it from the web.

For those with Android Phones and want to join in on the fun on New Year's Eve, AndroIRC is a great IRC app to use. Just program in the DarkMyst Server and the NeoArkCradle channel and you are good to go.
I usually celebrate with my mum and sis, so it's more possible for me to join after midnight, which I really intend to do. Here in BG all kind of holidays just must be celebrated with the entire family and even relatives if possible, and excuses are hardly accepted. xD
That's alright Lia. No need to worry about arriving early or late. We aren't really pressuring people to join per se. If you want (or have to) spend time with family/friends/real life events, that's perfectly okay. I just wanted an opportunity for people who aren't going anywhere or want to celebrate the new year with the fellow members. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Happy" /><!-- sSmile -->
Hey guys I can stream stuff for you. I'll try to be around (I think I'm going to a party + animu new years speshuls airing that day) even though I might be busy that day.

Here's the stuff I can stream for you:

Anime - Currently I've got all the 5D's episodes, Madoka Magica, Persona 4: The Animation 1-12, Tiger&Bunny, the last third of Gurren Lagann and Fate/Zero's first half all loaded up on my comp. I also have a couple episodes of the campy Sailor Moon live action series since Miss Dream started subbing the series. I can stream other series, just give me a heads up quickly so I can get them ready in time.

Visual Novels - And yes, I'll let you pick the choices for those for lulz. Currently I've got Steins;gate and Hateful Boyfriend all loaded up, but I can get more.

Video Games - Anything that isn't above a DS technology wise, because my computer will lag like crap if I try to stream anything else.
Depending on what I'm doing that night, I'll prolly be there.
I probably won't be on New Years Eve, but I can probably jump in New Years day for a while. Only thing is that my IRC is cheapo no pay because I AM a cheapo no pay guy. lol
Remember guys, we span multiple time-zones. So, even if you can't see in your -own- New Year with the forum, you can share in the joy of your fellow members stepping into 2012. For example, our European members will be hitting midnight anywhere from 4 to 10 hours prior to our US members (depending on the relative locations). So, all hope is not lost if you have major plans for the evening.

Oh yeah....that's good to remember. So I might just join on time. <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" title="Grin" /><!-- sBig Grin -->
Won't probably be here by the time, but may join y'all next day. It's been ages since last time I used mIRC, gotta be fun.

I'll drink one more for NAC members. Olé!
Pfft. Nobody here has New Years earlier than me. Unless you're Australian. In which case you just might.

That would be Aviskt then.
There's also Pangga. And Vagrant. I haven't seen Vagrant in ages. Shame, he was a funny guy. <!-- sSad --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/sad.gif" alt="Sad" title="Sad" /><!-- sSad -->

Programs wise, MephistoDP offered to stream Sonic Generations.
That sounds pretty fun.

Vagnant's been around...
He is? I haven't seen him in IRC at the very least, so I assumed he was gone. ^^; His account hasn't been active since late September, though...
I'll try to get here, but i got a wedding to go to that day. (Yes, the guy's getting married on December 31. He earned the right to pick a tacky date since his last wife stabbed him with a kitchen knife though)
Cool! I am on a regular family party, but I will pop in to recieve my EotY dose of trout slaps from Kahu - and give out some random fluffy New Year slaps in return ^^ <!-- s:hihihi: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/hehe.gif" alt=":hihihi:" title="Hihihi" /><!-- s:hihihi: -->
I will stream Sonic Generations along with any other games in my collection until I grow tired/need a break.

Also, for those who own a Wii. Mario Kart Wii, and/or Super Smash Bros. Brawl, join us for a friendly online race/brawl. If you are interested, place your MKW/SSBB Friend code here or the IRC and then drop by the IRC to inform us that you want a race/brawl.

Note: I might stream us playing, but only if my internet can handle it. I have to stream AND be on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for this, so streaming is a maybe.

Here are my friend codes:
MKW: (Don't have game with me atm. Will post later)
SSBB: 4425-6581-1457
On behalf of those who are a bit too socially anxious for parties, I'll shyly wish a happy new year's from here. ^^;
Have a good 2012, y'all!
Seems I'm going into Jersey with the family, and I probably won't take my laptop because of how its fan stopped working (using an actual fan to cool it >_>), so I'll just wish everyone a good 2012 now. =]
Not sure if I'll be there. I have to work on both New Years Eve and New Years Day. <!-- s^o) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/eyebrow.png" alt="^o)" title="Hmm..." /><!-- s^o) -->
I won't be joining so I hope you all have a good time and Happy New Year everyone!!

P.S. Umi that sucks! I hope you get double time for working such major days (I used to when I worked in a small store and had to work Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Years Eve/Day).

No, my job sucks. I don't get paid a drop for working the holidays.

Oh well, I won't try to make a pity party out of it. I get out at 7:00 anyhow, so there will be a little time.
I might get on if I haven't passed out on some dirty floor.
I've got plans, but I might drop by briefly.
Welp, so it would seem the chat got split in two thanks to a *.net *.split.
Why am I not surprised that first time I use irc something like that happens.
So how we put it back together?
Basically:

Quote:When the connection between A and C is severed, users that were connected to other servers which are no longer reachable on the network appear to quit. For example, if user Sara is connected to server A, user Bob is connected to server B, and user Joe is connected to C, and C splits, or disconnects, from A, it will appear to Joe as if Sara and Bob both quit (disconnected from the network), and it will appear to both Sara and Bob that Joe quit. However, Joe can still talk to anyone on the same server C. This happens because the servers in which they are connected are informed of the change in the network status, and update their local information accordingly to display the change.

Later, server C may relink (reconnect) to a server on the network and the users who appeared to have quit will rejoin; the process of sending this updated information to all servers on the network is called a netburst (or sync).

We'll just have to wait until the networks reconnect, at which point we'll rejoin the people from the other network. Sometimes this happens fairly quickly (like within 5 minutes after the netsplit) but sometimes it can take much longer. So. Yeah.
And it's midnight in Europe! Happy New Years everyone. The last year had rough parts and good parts; here's hoping this year will be even better! <!-- sX3 --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/X3.gif" alt="X3" title="Squee!" /><!-- sX3 -->
HAPPY NEW YEAR from BG! <!-- sX3 --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/X3.gif" alt="X3" title="Squee!" /><!-- sX3 -->
I really wish to all of you a new year filled with many smiles and bright moments of true happiness! (HUGS)
Just got home and I'm searching for my pillow, but Happy, NEW YEAR!

As we call it here. New year, new luck.
I you you all the best of good luck for this new year!
Happy New Year to all. Here's hoping 2012 brings some good stuff.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! ^_^

Well, here in Florida, there's still 1 hour & 45 minutes left, but yeah.

EDIT: Ok, NOW HAPPY NEW YEAR! <!-- sTongue --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/tongue1.gif" alt="Tongue" title="Tongue" /><!-- sTongue --> <!-- sAwe --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/awe.gif" alt="Awe" title="Awesome" /><!-- sAwe -->
