If you mean manga, then we have them backed up ever since the "you know what". Besides, there is a site with all DM, R, GX, and most of 5D's chapter for online reading.

And which site might that be?

Although my bad, GX misses some of the chapters.

Filesonic does stopped working. But fileshare is fine so far.

Not really. I would need to make myself more sure, but I think that one could give a giant wall of text that would be hex structure of an file, then using editor and that "wall" one could create same file for themselves... unfortunatelly, it will be so enormous, I would need something that would copy entire code at once to check.
But if it will work, there is a way to share files without actually sharing them <!-- sAwesome Cookie Monster --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/NAC_Smiley_Pack_Default/awecm.gif" alt="Awesome Cookie Monster" title="Awesome Cookie Monster" /><!-- sAwesome Cookie Monster -->
And so far, torrents are untouched I believe.

Yeah, I strongly doubt the govt. can do anything major about torrents/peer-to-peer.

As for hosts, this will be very, very annoying. All I can think of is using mirror sites to mass-upload.

Torrents are fine, William. The number of seeders doesn't matter if the connection between you and your peers aren't stable. If you're going to keep track of events like this, I'd appreciate it if you actually dug up some info and posted only confirmed data.

And this is definitely going to stir up a shitstorm from various legit firms and users. In addition to lobbying from the Internet companies. I wouldn't be too worried about the Internet completely dying on us.

The other file sharing sites are only locking themselves up out of fear. Really, the only reason Megaupload got targeted is because people in charge are criminals who've done more then just piracy.

If you're really paranoid, just join private tracker and disable/prevent uploading as much as you can. Nobody is going to care about anime/manga shit since those companies aren't the ones complaining to congress

Well I wouldn't be too fussed about things long-term, there will always be more people who want to pirate and/or obtain material which they otherwise can't, so new hosts will pop up, or we will find another way. Short-term, it's ridiculously annoying having files locked and wiped though.

...buy them from illegal importers that is.

The US government need to understand that we're in the information age; people want stuff fast & easy to obtain. All this stop online piracy is just promoting illegal importation of stuff that you could only get in a different country.

The government does it to satisfy the people who actually make, which I understand, however what they also must realize is that they are kinda opening Pandora's Box. They can't stop it, plus they are going against everything a democracy stands for. If they wish to become a dictatorship they should go this way, if they don't this ain't the good way.

Just my view

Guys move the discussion to the Intelligent Debate forum, as the E-Parasites thread relates back to all this. Otherwise, locking this thread since it's served it's point.
Ark Links To Stuff
Duel Academy R:2, a Yu-Gi-Oh! RPG || Arkadia Works || The Organization || Lapse (A Webcomic)

If you didn't have such strong ideas about where the story should go, you wouldn't end up so disappointed when the writers have other ideas.
