There is actually. It just works a tad differently. Click on "Post Reply", the button on the bottom to get to the 'advanced view' of the post reply window.
Underneath the editing box, there's a topic review, and you would then see all the posts in the thread (whether it's all of them, or the last 40 like it was one vBulletin, I'm not sure).
You'll notice that each post as a quote button then. Click on the posts you want to quote.

That's how I'm quoting more than one person right now.

Try this. On the User CP, go to the following:

Board Preferances > Edit Posting defaults > Notify me upon replies by default

Change that to "No', and see if that works.
