Okay, folks!
We're gonna be moving NAC (the Forum) to a new server host soon.
Some minor forum upgrades, chiefly back end stuff, will be addressed, including SSL.
And there may be some interruption of service, but no worries. Things will keep trucking along.
Further details will be provided as they become available!

One of our regulars, Dragun, is heading a Master Duel Tournament for members of the forum to participate in:
http://neoarkcradle.net/forum/showthread...#pid507937
For more details.
Please make sure you have the time and resources to dedicate to playing in a timely manner.
The tournament is an unofficial event, not hosted by Konami. It will be Round Robin format, and will be played throughout the month of February 2023.
Again, please make sure you have the time to participate, and the resources to build a Deck that satisfies the tournament's restrictions and requirements.

Registration Settings Change |

Hi everyone!
I've previously talked about this before, but since I'm seeing Stop Forum Spam doing a damn fine work, among other things,
users now no longer require admin verification when registering. The only thing new users need to do from now on is verifying their email address.
We required email verification & admin verification for a long time. This has been primarily due to certain troublemakers repeatedly getting past their bans, so we had to slow them down somehow. Thankfully, such times are behind us, but the practice just kind of stayed. However, spambots were now an issue, which were also held back by the system, until I figured out how Stop Forum Spam worked on MyBB.
Unfortunately, it also wasn't a good practice in the long term. We've had several users emailing us or DMing our Twitter account regarding their account registration. I'll also admit that I haven't always gotten back to these inquiries, and that is on me and me alone. I want to apologize for causing inconvenience with my negligence.
Hopefully, with the new settings, the registration process will be less problematic from now on. There have been reports of the forum sending multiple verification emails, I'm not sure what's the cause behind that. If anyone's experiencing such issues, please let us know! I'd want to see how frequently it happens.
Lastly, Happy Easter to everyone! Consider this an Easter gift, perhaps?

Forum Warning System Update |

Hi everyone!
As I previously said, our warning system has been updated after discussing it with the rest of the Staff. We felt the previous warning expiration dates were too short and thus too lenient, so we increased the expiration dates. The new values are the following:
Everything else is unchanged - warning levels stay the same, so do temporary ban times. No new warnings have been added.
Forum Warnings and Levels thread for the full system overview here: http://neoarkcradle.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=4903
Other forum changes:
I have enabled the Stop Forum Spam integration in our forum settings. I have kept everything at the default settings for now, I've also set it to check for emails, usernames and IP addresses. I don't know how effective this change will be, I am hoping it will help catch a spammer or two.
Regarding the user registration setting changes, I've run into a bit of a snag regarding CAPTCHA - I'll have to run it through Shadowfang first. As soon as that is sorted out, I'll be switching user registration to require email verification only, rather than the current admin verification + email verification setting. I don't want to open the floodgates on spambots until the CAPTCHA issue is sorted out (especially in case Stop Forum Spam isn't helping as much as I think it would), so please bear with us a bit longer with the old system!
If anyone has any questions on concerns, feel free to ask and comment!

Upcoming Changes & Report Button PSA |

Hi everyone,
This is a heads-up announcement that we'll be changing the way warnings work on the forum very soon, we are still working out the final details with the Staff. This is to ensure that people who violate our rules enough will be sufficiently punished by the system and not dance around the fence. Hopefully that should ease the issues surrounding the forum discussions.
We are also aiming to change our registration settings, so signing up for our forum will be much less of a buttpain.
Details coming soon on both matters, once everything is sorted out and is implemented.
Furthermore, if you feel anyone is causing trouble in a discussion, please use the report button.
This cannot be stressed enough, please report any post or member who you feel are causing issues. Alternately, you can contact the Staff Members either via Private Message, our Discord Server, or Twitter.
The Staff is not omnipresent, but we are more than happy to resolve any issues. However, if we don't know of these problems, we can't help out.
Me and Ark, as well the other staff members, want this place to be an enjoyable site for everyone.
If you have any comments or feedback on the matter, please don't hesitate to share your views.

User Awaiting Activation Usergroup Permission Fix + Summer Plans |

Hi everyone,
In the past months, we have gotten several inquiries and emails from newly registered users. Users thinking they were immediately banned, or thinking they may have done something wrong. Basically people being confused and worried. In reality nobody did anything wrong, and unfortunately it is my fault this confusion came to be in the first place, as I was the one who made the setting in question.
Basically, our forum requires newly registered accounts to be activated by Administrators, as we've had history of some notorious ban evaders. Users awaiting activation could browse the forum, but not being able to post until their accounts were activated. However, an issue started when an user I won't name would create accounts to avoid bans, and while they were able to view the forum as an user awaiting activation, they'd use that information to harass our members, rather persistently. In order to avoid this happening, I went ahead and changed the permissions for the User Awaiting Activation usergroup so they would not be able to view the forum at all, save for the same sections they'd see as a Guest - or at least that was the plan.
Unfortunately, what I didn't anticipate was that instead of seeing an empty forum page due to the way I changed the settings, newly registered users would get a No Permission Page or something along the lines. This caused many a worry and confusion for a long time, which I feel pretty bad about in retrospect. After talking it over with the rest of the Staff, the account activation is not going away, but hopefully as of today, the permission issue should be fixed and there should not be any error messages anymore.
I deeply apologize to every new user, be it a posting newbie or lurker alike, for the confusion and complication. As always, if anyone has problems with their account, you can use our Contact Us page or send us a message on Twitter. (If there are still issues, I'll give it another check.)
As for the summer, we'd like to shoot for the following goals:
- Finally, finally add the long due smileys our members have suggested to be added.
- Update our forum plugins to fix bugs and make things run more smoothly.
- Look into a nice forum style that offers a snazzier look than the default forum styles. (The default skin and the dark skin will not be going anywhere of course, if anyone wishes to stick to them.)
- Assign more Moderators to several forum sections that lack a Moderator, especially the ARC-V related ones.
Hopefully we can actually get them done and implemented by autumn the latest.
Lastly, as a side note, the site has been having hiccups here and there, people have been reporting to me that the forum was being down. Unfortunately I'm not sure about the exact causes at this point, but for the time being, the forum does eventually come back and everything is fine.
If anyone has comments or concerns, feel free to post in this thread, or make a thread in the Suggestions section.
