NAC User Satisfaction Survey 2011 - Results are in!
Posted by: Arynis - 04-08-2012, 10:48 AM - Forum: Announcements & News - Replies (4)

Hey everyone!

First of all, I apologize it took so long to process the results. Between being busy with my own life, being busy with other adminly things, and having to manually go through the data one by one it took me longer than I wanted to. Guess that's one lesson for me; I'll need to organize this survey better at the end of this year to make it easier both for your guys and us as well! I've been told Surveymonkey is a good choice, but is anyone has any input on that matter, please share with us!

And now to the results. I got a total of 21 surveys from the memberbase (staff included), although one of the participants requested their survey not to be included in the results. (That's why you can see one of the lines blanked out in the image below.) I had to paraphrase some of the answers so I could fit them in the Excel cells, but I'll be quoting some of the comments further down below to which the staff will answer to. Also, two people provided a simple feedback comment instead of filling the survey, so I didn't count them towards the count total, but I still want to thank them for their comments!

Also, to clear things up, these surveys were filled in during January-early February, so some of the comments and concerns may be outdated or resolved by this point.

Well, here's the table. Click to enlarge.

The survey also asked what do you think about the idea of having a main site and a wiki. A main site will be definitely planned, as we only have a forum right now. The wiki idea got some mixed results, due to the existence of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia. We could revisit the wiki issue later on when we have established a main site and stuff.

I gotta say though, it seems a lot of people seem to be interested in podcasts, although that was only an example and not specifically asking you guys wanted a podcast. Still, if there's demand for it, we could arrange them sometime in the future.

Anyway, here are the results on the questions regarding the main site and the wiki. Click to enlarge.

And on to the comments! They'll be quoted without names because it's the comments that matter, and I wouldn't want anyone to start a witch hunt in case anyone's opinion may seem unpopular. That's not the point here. There were no troll responses of any sort, and I appreciate the honesty and the feedback from everyone!

Once again, thanks for all the feedback! Hopefully we can repeat the survey at the end of this year in a more efficient manner.

Furthermore, if anyone has any comments and concerns, do say it! Also, if you addressed a concern but don't see it below and would like an answer to that, do let us know about that too!

 Regarding Daylight Saving Time (DST)
Posted by: Arynis - 03-25-2012, 06:45 AM - Forum: Announcements & News - No Replies

The forum doesn't change to Summer Time automatically, you need to enable DST manually in your User Control Panel! You can do this by clicking the Board Preferences tab and tick "Yes" for "Summer Time/DST is in effect".

Hey guys!

I mentioned this in the Changelog, but I'm posting an announcement just to make sure this gets to everyone. phpBB3 has been updated to version 3.0.10, our previous version was 3.0.9.

The banner and the mods are currently gone, and I have informed Shadowfang of these issues. If you have any other questions regarding the forum update, let us know!

Implementation of Registration Rules - Opinions needed
Posted by: Arynis - 02-25-2012, 10:13 AM - Forum: Announcements & News - Replies (7)

Hey guys!

This is not specifically about the Download Forum rules, but an issue that has been around for a while now, and we'd like to know how you guys feel about this.

As you may know, your registrations need to be verified by an Admin first. We're not doing this to keep people out, but to prevent persistent trolls from polluting the forums, although its original purpose was to prevent spambots from flooding the forum until we implemented better anti-spambot measures. It allows us to review every account to make sure if the user in question is legit, or if it's a troll we are aware of, or a ban evader, and so on. However, I must stress that we do not collect data about anyone or use the information in any manner, apart from deleting the account if we deem it suspicious. We're doing it merely for security measures.

Furthermore, we'd also like to reject any registration that is made from a proxy server, to prevent trolls and ban evaders from getting through our radar. We do have our ways to look this up, but again, we do not exploit this information in any manner.

I'd like to know how the members feel about these measures before officially implementing them. We have sort of unofficially shot down accounts via proxy IPs before, but the sad fact is that we may not know if it was a legit user or not. Therefore, I'd like to make sure if you guys are okay with these practices.

 The Download Forum
Posted by: NeoArkadia - 02-22-2012, 05:49 PM - Forum: Announcements & News - Replies (5)

Righto. Due to overwhelming demand by the forum membership, the Download Forum now merely requires one to sign up to the forum as a registered user. I hope this isn't terribly inconvenient. As such, the Notification thread is now defunct. And the rules will be adjusted accordingly.

 Forum move
Posted by: Shadowfang - 02-21-2012, 10:43 AM - Forum: Announcements & News - Replies (16)

Hi all.

Sorry for the short notice, but to solve all the 503 errors and reduced bandwith, we're force to move the forum to a different server.

This means that our IP address will change from 184.154.228.19 to 184.154.88.178. But we'll stay on neoarkcradle.net/forum.
The move will take about 12 hours.
Any posts made between now and 23:40 CET might be lost, as during the next 12 hours there will be 2 forums up and running and you might be directed to either one as the address neoarkcradle.net is moved from one IP address to the other.

But if you can read this post, you should already be looking at the new server.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, but this is the only way we can ensure these pesty 503s will stop and we can all go back to enjoying the forum.

/love

Shadow

 I need everyone's help!
Posted by: MaKo - 02-04-2012, 09:45 AM - Forum: Announcements & News - Replies (35)

So, I'm sure everyone's noticed that the latest chapter releases haven't made themselves present on our forum as usual.

Unfortunately, due to a series of unfortunate events, the February issue of V-Jump was sold out before Kyte could get it, and I've searched every Asian retailer for it.

And it's gone.

The only place I could possibly get it would be Yahoo!Japan Auctions. And the cost of that, including a shipping service (because Yahoo Auctions does not ship to the US) would be a whooping $50 dollars.

I've been buying all the V-Jumps myself but that's simply a cost I cannot eat by myself. So this is where you all come in!

If every active member could chip in just $1 or even $2 to my paypal account, I'd have enough to get that issue and get it scanned. I think that's fair, right?

Does this sound like a good idea? I'd be more than happy to do it. Hell, if I could even just get half of it, that'd be better.

So shall we do this? My paypal is zidane_96 at hotmail dot com Let's hopefully get this before the next one. I do hope Kyte doesn't miss out on that one too!
